A bird in the box (and others elsewhere)

Monday, January 31st, 2011

All winter so far a little blue tit has spent each night in our nest box. Set on the side of our shed, and fitted with an infra-red camera we have been able to see each evening as he settles down – usually just before dusk. By the time the sun’s up he’s on his way – I guess the early bird really does catch the worm!

The picture is updated every two minutes. You’ll need to refresh your browser yourself.

We have also set up some fat-balls with seeds embedded, hanging on the washing line and these are visited by a whole range of small birds, including, from early on, a rather aggressive robin. There’s even a pigeon that picks up the seeds that fall onto the floor.

Been fror a drive. Lovely blue sky & sunshine, crocuses peeping through the soil in people’s gardens. Won’t be long before Spring is here.

Whoops – forgot to put the water in the bread machine last night. Result wouldn’t look out of place in geology lab as sandstone sample.

After four years since last looking at it, I just got a #Plone install up and running sweetly. Amazing how all that #Zope stuff comes back

Now in the office. Jolly cold outside and was some very light sleety/snow when I left home.

Daughter not well today so WFH (quite peaceful & nice view) this morning ’till Serena gets home from the nursery.

RT @Abinger_Hammer: The Infamous Dorking Cockerel! Our Feb 2011 feature http://fb.me/LCYyJiTV < it’s probably over 20 feet tall

Finally discovered that the codes to transfer calls on my Asterisk system actually work. More reasons SWMBO longs for a “normal” telephone.

@adders – You must have found that hat!

Lots of big puddles on the way to work. Ideal for swishing through in the Landrover.

Wow. Just discovered that a project I’m doing work for is about a hundred times bigger than I realised!

Long session with Movable Type Consultant was useful and now I have some things to try to fix some probs. Not all fixed yet, though!
